David Duband, Gevrey-Chambertin 2020

Flag of France

Domaine David Duband is one of Burgundy’s most respected modern estates, producing wines from top Côte d'Or terroirs including the village of Gevrey‑Chambertin. Since the early 1990s the domaine has farmed organically, championing soil health, old vines and minimal chemical intervention. In the cellar they often use high percentages of whole-cluster fermentation, low sulphur, indigenous yeasts and restrained oak; aiming for purity, terroir expression and timeless Burgundian finesse. This 2020 vintage shows a deep-garnet core and violet rim. On the nose, it's gently whole-clustered and earthy; there’s fresh red cherry, cranberry, a hint of forest floor and a subtle undercurrent of mineral, stony soil. On the palate: fine-grain tannins carry bright red fruit, wild strawberry and a salty-mineral thread; there’s a lovely lift of acidity that keeps the wine poised rather than heavy. Medium-bodied, elegant and precise, with a clean finish and real cellar-potential over the next 8–12 years.
